DHA Phase 7 Consultations and Local Jurisdiction
Consultations are available at 76C, Mezzanine Floor, Main Jami Commercial, Phase 7, DHA, Karachi. We assist residents across DHA Phases 1–8, including Jami Commercial, Khayaban-e-Ittehad, Khayaban-e-Shamsheer, Bukhari Commercial and Seaview, as well as nearby Clifton, Bath Island and Civil Lines.
A DHA address alone does not determine registration jurisdiction. We check the solemnisation arrangements and registrar’s remit to identify the competent Cantonment Board, Union Council or other authority. CBC and municipal procedures differ. Book before visiting.
Eligibility, Free Consent and Nikahnama Terms
Both parties must be at least 18 under Sindh law, with verified identity, voluntary consent and legal capacity. Remarriage requires effective divorce or death records and applicable iddat review. Another marriage during an existing marriage requires prior written Arbitration Council permission review under Section 6 of the Muslim Family Laws Ordinance, 1961.
Witness requirements depend on the applicable personal law. The Hanafi procedure generally requires two competent Muslim men, or one competent Muslim man and two competent Muslim women. Under Ja‘fari law, witnesses are not a condition of religious Nikah validity; registration documentation remains separate. Mehr, prompt or deferred payment, and Nikahnama clauses should be explained and recorded accurately.
Documents and Remote Solemnisation Steps
| Stage | Preparation or Action |
|---|---|
| Initial Review | CNIC/NICOP or passport, locations, marital status and intended document use |
| Representation | Specific authority or power of attorney, with authentication where required |
| Nikah Arrangements | Agree consent, applicable witnesses, Mehr and offer-and-acceptance procedure |
| Written Contract | Check Nikahnama particulars, signatures and registrar details |
| Registration and Certificate | File with the competent authority and follow its certificate requirements |
Photographs, translations and supporting records depend on the receiving authority. Confirm the checklist before arranging an overseas signing or courier shipment.
Overseas Spouses, Power of Attorney and Attestation
Video participation and representation differ. A video call alone does not establish every requirement. A representative’s authority and scope must be documented; formal power of attorney depends on the procedure and receiving authority, rather than overseas residence alone.
Foreign nationals require individual document review. Authentication, translation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs attestation or consular handling may be needed. Confirm remote or proxy marriage recognition with the receiving immigration authority. Attestation does not guarantee UK, US, Canadian, EU or GCC acceptance.
Marriage Records and NADRA Services
| Record | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Nikahnama | Written marriage contract recording the marriage and agreed terms |
| Local Registration | Statutory recording through the competent registrar and local authority |
| Computerised Marriage Certificate | Civil certificate issued by the competent authority after registration |
| NADRA Record Update | Separate identity or family-record service; NADRA does not solemnise Nikah |
Section 5 of the Muslim Family Laws Ordinance, 1961 requires registration of Muslim marriages. Religious validity and registration are distinct questions; registration must not be presented as optional. For a lost Nikahnama, identify the office holding the registered entry before requesting a certified copy.
Fees, Processing Times and Confidential Enquiries
The advisory and facilitation package is PKR 40,000–60,000, subject to a written scope. Payment is 50% in advance and 50% after Nikah and registration. The quotation identifies included work and any separately payable certificate, attestation, translation or delivery expenses.
Solemnisation may be arranged promptly once the review is complete and participants are available. Weekend arrangements depend on availability; registration and certificates follow official working days and processing requirements. No fixed certificate deadline or visa outcome is promised.
Enquiries are handled privately; registration records remain subject to lawful access. Share location, marital status and document use initially. Identity documents are requested through the agreed consultation process.
