Computerised Marriage Certificate Assistance

A traditional Urdu Nikah Nama records the terms and particulars of a Muslim marriage. The computerised Marriage Registration Certificate presents the registered marriage information in a standard computer-generated format.

The certificate may be required for marital-status updates, spouse or family visa applications, immigration matters, passport and identity procedures, embassy documentation, employment benefits, banking, insurance, succession and proof of marriage before public or private institutions.

Acceptance and additional documentary requirements are determined by the organisation receiving the certificate. Issuance does not guarantee approval of a visa, immigration application or foreign legal process.

For general information about Marriage Registration Certificates and assistance in Karachi and elsewhere in Pakistan, see our NADRA Marriage Certificate in Pakistan guide.

Incorrect or Missing Marriage Records

Differences in names, CNIC numbers, dates, addresses or marital particulars may delay issuance. A Marriage Registration Certificate cannot safely be prepared from assumptions or altered information.

If the underlying Nikah Nama is unregistered, incomplete, unavailable or inconsistent with the official record, the matter may require additional verification, correction or legal documentation. Such work falls outside the standard professional service for the applicable city.

Assistance for Overseas Pakistanis

Overseas Pakistanis may contact our team before sending original or sensitive documents. Where legally permissible, a representative may assist under an authority letter or duly executed power of attorney. The issuing authority may nevertheless require additional verification or attendance in an individual case.

Clients should confirm the translation, attestation and acceptance requirements of the foreign embassy, immigration authority or institution where the certificate will be submitted.

Clear Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a NADRA Marriage Certificate?+

The term “NADRA Marriage Certificate” is commonly used for the computerised Marriage Registration Certificate containing the registered particulars of a marriage. It is prepared based on the Nikah Nama, identity documents and the marriage record maintained by the relevant local authority.

Does NADRA issue the Marriage Registration Certificate directly?+

The certificate is generally processed and issued through the competent local marriage-registration authority. NADRA identity information may be used during registration, but applicants should not assume that every certificate is issued directly by a NADRA office.

In which cities does Advocates of Pakistan provide assistance?+

Advocates of Pakistan provides standard Marriage Registration Certificate assistance in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Lahore. The appropriate authority and procedure depend on where the Nikah was registered and where the underlying marriage record is maintained.

What is the professional fee?+

Our professional fee is PKR 5,000 for standard assistance in Islamabad or Rawalpindi and PKR 7,000 for standard assistance in Lahore. This covers ordinary document review, application preparation and procedural follow-up within the agreed scope.

Are government charges included in the professional fee?+

No. Government charges, official fees, urgent processing charges, translation, notarisation, attestation, correction work and courier expenses are not included in the applicable professional fee.

Which documents are generally required?+

Applicants are commonly required to provide a clear copy of the registered Nikah Nama and CNIC or NICOP copies of both spouses. Passport copies may be required where a spouse is a foreign national. Further documents may be requested depending on the record and relevant authority.

Is the original Nikah Nama required?+

The authority may require the original Nikah Nama or verification of the original marriage record. You should initially send only a clear copy for review unless Advocates of Pakistan specifically requests the original document.

Do both spouses have to appear personally?+

Personal attendance requirements vary according to the authority, condition of the record and circumstances of the application. In some matters authorised representation may be accepted, while in others personal verification may be required.

Can an overseas Pakistani apply through a representative?+

Where legally permissible, an overseas Pakistani may authorise a representative through an authority letter or duly executed power of attorney. The authority may still request additional verification, original documents or personal attendance in an individual case.

How long does the process take?+

Processing time depends on the relevant authority, availability and accuracy of the marriage record, required verification and administrative workload. A completion date should not be assumed until the documents and underlying record have been reviewed.

Is urgent processing available?+

Urgent assistance may be possible in certain cases, depending on the authority and condition of the record. Any urgent processing or additional professional charges will be explained before the work begins.

Can a certificate be obtained if the Nikah Nama is not registered?+

An unregistered Nikah Nama may require late registration, additional verification, supporting documents or other legal steps before a computerised certificate can be issued. Such work is outside the standard professional service for the applicable city.

What happens if the Nikah Nama has been lost?+

The available record must first be traced or verified through the relevant Nikah Registrar or local authority. Requirements depend on whether the marriage was properly registered and whether an official record remains available.

Can errors in names, dates or CNIC numbers be corrected?+

Corrections may be possible after reviewing the Nikah Nama, identity documents and official marriage record. The procedure depends on the type of discrepancy. Correction work and related affidavits or legal proceedings are outside the standard service.

Can you assist when one spouse is a foreign national?+

Yes, assistance may be provided where one spouse is a foreign national. Passport copies and additional identification or immigration documents may be required. The competent registration authority determines the final requirements.

Is an English translation included?+

No. Translation is a separate service and is not included in the standard professional fee. The institution receiving the certificate may require a certified translation, notarisation or other verification.

Can you arrange Ministry of Foreign Affairs or embassy attestation?+

Attestation assistance may be available as a separate service. Requirements depend on the country and institution where the document will be submitted. Attestation and embassy charges are not included in the standard fee.

Does the certificate guarantee approval of a visa or immigration application?+

No. A Marriage Registration Certificate is supporting evidence of a registered marriage. Visa, immigration, embassy and foreign-residence decisions are made independently by the relevant authorities.

Can I apply in a city different from where my Nikah was registered?+

The application is ordinarily connected to the authority holding the underlying marriage record. If you now live in a different city, Advocates of Pakistan can review the documents and help identify the appropriate authority.

How can I start the process?+

Send Advocates of Pakistan a clear copy of the Nikah Nama, copies of the spouses’ identity documents and details of where the Nikah was registered. You should also disclose any spelling, date or identification discrepancy.
